What Does a Canine Wedding Chaperone Actually Do?
What Does a Canine Wedding Chaperone Actually Do?
So you want someone you trust, but you don’t want to rely on a family member to take care of your dog for the whole day? You want everyone to be able to relax and fully enjoy the wedding, while knowing your dog is in safe hands.
That’s exactly where I come in!
My role is to take full responsibility for your dog on the day, so you don’t have to think about a thing…
Getting Your Dog to the Venue
If needed, I can collect your dog from home and transport them safely to your venue in a secure, crated van. No relying on guests, no last minute logistics.
Before the Ceremony
Alternatively, I can meet you at the venue. You then have the choice of having your dog with you while you’re getting ready, or, if you’d prefer, I can take your dog off for a short walk or settle them somewhere quiet so they stay relaxed. It’s always a good idea to keep one eye on the weather though, you don’t want wet soggy dogs around formal wear!
During the Ceremony
This is where most couples want their dog involved, whether that’s walking down the aisle, acting as ring bearer, or just being part of the day. I’ll coordinate everything with your photographer and venue so it runs smoothly and feels effortless. Dogs can be a little unpredictable at times, so I may make small adjustments on the day to keep everything relaxed and working as it should.
Drinks Reception and Photos
This is usually the best part of the day for your dog. They can mingle with guests, be part of the atmosphere and join you for photos. I’ll handle everything behind the scenes to keep them happy and settled, whether that’s a quick wee break or bringing out the squeaky toy for those ears-up moments. All so you can stay present and just enjoy it.
Understanding Your Dog
Weddings can be a lot for dogs, even the most relaxed ones. With my experience and training in canine body language, I’m always watching for signs they might be feeling overwhelmed. If needed, I’ll step in straight away to give them space or take them out for a walk. Your dog’s comfort will always be my priority.
Heading Home
Most dogs stay for the ceremony and drinks reception, then head home before the wedding breakfast. I’ll take care of getting them home safely, whether that’s dropping them at kennels or settling them back at home for the evening.
Peace of Mind
At the end of the day, it’s about knowing your dog is being properly looked after. You can relax and enjoy your wedding, knowing everything is taken care of. If you’re planning to include your dog in your wedding, a canine chaperone makes it feel easy for everyone involved.
