Wedding Outfit Ideas for Your Dog!

If your dog is going to be part of your wedding day, choosing what they’ll wear can be a really fun part of the planning.

Over the years I’ve seen some gorgeous wedding dog outfits, from classic bow ties to beautiful flower collars, and the best choices are usually the ones that complement the wedding style while still keeping the dog comfortable.

Coordinating with Your Wedding Party

One simple way to style your dog is by matching their lead, harness or collar to the colours in your wedding.

Some couples choose accessories that coordinate with the groomsmen’s suits or the bridesmaids’ dresses, which ties everything together nicely in photos. Classic ivory and black always works beautifully for more formal or black tie weddings.

If your dog normally wears a collar, you might simply swap their everyday one for something a little more special for the occasion - a smart leather collar with gold hardware, for example, can look stunning and subtly match wedding details like rings or jewellery.

Bow Ties and Bandanas

A simple bow tie is one of the most popular wedding dog accessories and always looks lovely in photos.

Some couples opt for bandanas instead, especially if they match the groom’s suit fabric or colour. For example, a wool bandana can work really nicely for autumn or winter weddings.

Flower Collars

Flower collars are another beautiful option and look particularly lovely in photos alongside the bridal bouquet.

You can often ask your florist to create one to match the wedding flowers, but I’d usually recommend using artificial flowers rather than fresh ones. Dogs naturally move around and shake throughout the day, which can quickly damage delicate real flowers.

Artificial flowers tend to hold up much better and still look fantastic in photographs.

Comfort Comes First

While it’s fun choosing accessories, the most important thing to consider is always your dog’s comfort.

If your dog usually walks on a harness, it’s best to stick with that rather than switching to something unfamiliar for the wedding. Likewise, if they’re used to wearing a collar, simply upgrading it to a more stylish version can be the easiest option.

The goal is to make sure your dog feels relaxed and comfortable while still looking the part.

There are so many lovely options, and every dog is different. Below are some real wedding dog outfit ideas from weddings we’ve worked at to give you a little inspiration.
